We are a group of Reprobates known as the eRag gang.
We started an underground magazine in 2010, mostly because we were sick of reading sad corporate drivel. Our magazine was a throwback and none of our content was influenced by advertisers (but they sure tried). We've been black balled by more companies than we care to admit. This rag of a magazine (find all back issues on our website) spawned an enduro adventure tour company, because we learned that other Reprobates wanted to come along on our silly adventures.
We spend time-well-wasted with characters like Barry Morris from Cross Training Enduro Skills, world-class rider Tim Coleman and mechanic extraordinaire Chuck Harder. Subscribe if you enjoy philosophical musings and nonsense aimed at the 40 plus crowd. If you are bored and lonely, you can find out more about us here: www.tractionerag.com

Trail Fairies: Unsung Heroes of the Enduro World︱Traction eRag
When it comes to the engine in the 450 being a Zongshen that is a good thing because next to CF Moto they are one of the best Motorcycle engine manufacturers in China. Zongshen has their own race program with sponsored riders that compete in GP, Enduro, cross country, and trials type racing. Kove was smart by adopting both Zongshen and CF Moto engines for their bikes. I would be curious to see if Kove adopts any of CF Moto's smaller displacement parallel twins to power other Rally styled machines? I had the chance to ride a CF Moto 450 NK recently and quite honestly I was surprised at how lively that engine was for being only 50 HP and roughly 30 lb-ft of torque. It gets roughly 55 to 60 mpg in stock configuration which if you were to pair that with an 8 gallon fuel capacity that would offer nearly 450 miles of range. I would think that for a more street oriented with some trails ADV touring on a small displacement bike such a combination of engine performance and fuel capacity would be very advantageous. The 800cc engine that Kove is using from CF Moto is the 790 Duke engine with a different tune. CF Moto manufactures many of KTM's ADV bike engines including the 790 "800“ engine. So if Kove has the chops for building a durable chassis to house a CF Moto or Zongshen engine, I do not see reliability being an issue. As with any mechanical device how someone services it and cares for it over the long haul is going to determine its longevity in usability. That is not to say that mechanical failures can't or won't happen but that is true of anything with an engine regardless of its country of manufacture. I would love to have one of these for a year round commuter as long as I could affix a pannier set on it. I am not a fair weather rider but won't take my 65 year old Harley out in the snow. I love motorcycles and this would make a perfect all season for no apparent reason just go ride machine.
"overheating" message when killswitch is pressed it's not a glitch. It's just a sign that you have killswitch pressed... Do you remember older suzuki bikes? When you pressed killswitch you had "check" "error" on the dashboard - that not an error nor glitch. Its just a design they wanted it. Same for Kove. Peace!
klr built w rotopacs 1st gen or newer or 2nd, springs, pipe etc
these got 50 hp w pipe. ktm is 75 but is a big bike the 450 is like 58 hp 500 is like 60 hp also valves
a built klr 1st gen or a reiju 500 adv legend , a clone of the henjain daiadao.. klr is cheaper used n build it
Love to see a F900GS next
The only really soft tires I've used are the Shinko 505, and I really like them. Probably not nearly as soft as the Motoz, but they are surprisingly durable, good teaction, and fairly cheap. I'm sure they wont last long if you like to throw a roost at every chance, but there's enough traction they don't spin and wear as much as I expected. I don't ride nearly as much as I'd like to, but the first one i out on my YZ250 lasted 4 or 5 seasons. I turned it around a couple times to the sharper side though.
The whole industry is hyper-commercialized, including the professional motorcycle bum--I mean skills training--people. I say no bling and practice on your own, perhaps with books or training videos. You don't need to shell out $10K to fly to Timbuktu to ride, you can do it in your own backyard.
The 2008 berg 650 always impresses with its deafening sonic boom on a group ride. Covered in yellow cloth tape for safety adds to the appeal aswell
From this video, I think it's great what this Chinese man has done. That was him riding the old bike? And he's went on too build this, the bike looks the business. He will probably produce even better bikes after this one. And a great result in the Dakar. Well done China
2:30 idk, I am always in awe when "some old guy on a clapped out" anything rockets past me :D It gives me an illusion of a hope that I still have time and maybe, maybe someday I will be good too!
Where can I get the fuel cap from ? Don’t have a gas bike at the moment or good woman . Hoping to get both
Paraphrasing a quote: "If you earnestly believe you can compensate for lack of skill by doubling your bling, there's no end to what you can't do."
Any bike as long is it gets you out there. It's all about the hang time ;)
Finally, a movement I can get behind!
I've gotten to be the fast old guy a couple times, and its pretty funny. Once I met a grpup of riders behind my house that didnt onow the area, so I offered to show them some good single track. They were on new looking 450's with fancy graphics and gear, with me on my clapped out old YZ250 and Carhartt bibs. Picture Bubba from the old Crusty videos. I figured I better not go so slow they'd be bored, but didn't expect to be waiting for them for so long at the next turn.
Good stuff
Yay X Ronzo racing XR still alive
2000 XR250r rider here. I haven’t been riding all that long ~5years now. Love that old bike. Every time I go ride with new people I get a lot of compliments on the bike and have even had guys on newer bikes start to question if they should sell whatever late model bike they’re on and get an old air cooled bike. No radiator to crack, no electronics to fail, and it only cost me $2200 so I don’t feel too bad beating on it. I know my skills aren’t enough to be riding some crazy 450 any way, so Im plenty happy with that old XR. Makes me smile just about every time I ride it!
They're basically unrideable... best give them to me 😊
I've found that my "bold new graphics" are power washed away just as fast as my old ones.
21 year old fully restored KTM525exc here, rides great just fitted a better seat.v happy!
My favourite bling is different colour powerbands
My KLIM jacket was great till the zipper broke, now I wear my clapped out Tourmaster from 13 years ago.. Lesson learned..
In greece they fix that for 10e
XT250…fuel injection, wide pegs, risers…lucky!!
I have ridden many bikes... and the most fun still comes from my 4 year old KLX230R with a pair of bar risers slapped on it.
Hello, I follow the channel and I love the content, I'm from Portugal and I have a 2006 KTM 525 exc factory, the type of trails I do are fast, some more technical with tighter curves but nothing enduro, a mix of rally raid and cross country. In your opinion, will it be worth switching from KTM to Kove?
My name is Jacob Zuma I have a BMW Thirteen Thousand and 2 million, listen carefully now eight hundred and BMW
Masochism. Great video, thanks so much for doing this.
Came for the bikes stayed for the dogs :)
Sold it after 3 month. Just sh….
“As enduro riders we just ain’t that smart.” Indeed. There should be prison time for removing cats. Notice how the trees in the drone shots look brown on top. They are dying like the planet. Ain’t smart? More like 🤡💩🧠.
That was brilliant. Best insight to Rally ive ever heard. I loved the podcast style, if possible it would be great if it was on Spotify or something to make listening in the car easier. Keep up the good work! I'd love to hear him chat about Africa more.
I have owned and definitely used a ktm 690 off road, and on road... entirely tricked out too. Really loved it with the Recluse clutch. But with that said, this Chinese bike is actually at both the ideal size, power, and price point which I felt that KTM should have been at, especially with the crap stock suspension it had! If the Chinese can at least get this bike to be pretty close to the Ktm performance, I feel that alone would deserve some sales and respect! But that is my unbiased opinion. I don't care about silly things like where you are from, or your politics. You can shove that crap up your ass. I care about what really matters, like quality/ value, and good character of people. Maybe a few of you out there have the good sense to get it. Shalom. ( peace )
Brilliant loved it,and the prequel!!
Thanks. Do you recommend me to buy this bike?😅😊
OMG. This is easily the best, most comprehensive and thorough review. Thankyou for taking the time to explain indepth. Love it.
Sounds like every other "New" bike I've ever owned, ( and after 55 years of riding there's been many).
At 69 and 4 broken ribs last year, everyone said "is she going to sell her bikes now?" and I said no I'm just going to learn to choose better lines through the ruts.
Keep on keepin’ on! 🏍️💪
I would love to see the development of Rally racing in British Columbia! We have such amazing terrain from single track in the costal rainforest mountains to amazing trails in desert like conditions and everything in between.
Great collaboration! William is obviously a wealth of knowledge on the subject of Rally and riding around the world in general. Would love to hear more about riding in Africa! PT. 2 to come?! Kove is opening up the sport to people like me so it's so cool to see two worlds come together like this.
Doesn't matter where it's from. If it's a good machine I'll want one.
Willem is awesome, huge promoter of Rally Roadbooks. Met him at the fightclub of Rally rhe SoCal Rally meet up. Nicest guy I am now trialing his RallyTab on my Kove450
5 minutes of: this 40ps bike is slow... Orly? 40ps are slow... How come? 😑
Hi Dallas, Chuck and Aquaman, is there an update planned to this episode (incl canandian backyard dog fighting)? I am really interested how your three Kove's are doing. Thx in advance Clemens
Your dog is awesome. Also, nice discussion on the Kove, many good points made
his name is pronounced something like "jung (like the word hung) hwey"
Validation that i'm not alone in my kinky tire fetish.
Anyone wondering why he keeps saying 13,000 and not 1,300 That’s how much an average bmw rider spends on gear he uses once a year
Funny Bunch 😃🤟
